That. Was. Awesome.
No.
That was awesome covered in awesome.
You’ll understand that description after you’ve read Untamed, promise. In all seriousness, this book has completely blown me away. Whether you’re a hardcore D-Bags fan who melts over the very mention of one Kellan Kyle (me! me!) or still new to the series, you will fall madly in love with not only the characters, but also the storyline as a whole in Untamed.

First and foremost, holy crap for Griffin! If you’re like most of us, you’ll walk into this book with certain expectations. You’ve got the self-centered, egotistical, raunchy, classless (albeit hilarious) Griffin Hancock from the D-Bags. We all know him. We all mostly love him, but probably not nearly as much as his sexy bandmate, right? Obviously if a book is centered around him, you know there’s going to be some redeeming qualities that come to light but seriously , you have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. He’s so much more than you can imagine. While his flaws and mistakes are massive, how he chooses to handle those and seeing why he makes the choices he does will cause you to be Team Griffin from the get go. You’ll understand what makes him…well, him. There’s much more depth to his character than I expected, and it was breathtaking to see his story and maturity unfold. So needless to say, the guy that made you cringe before will have you falling head over heels in love with him by the end.
This story… This story! The ride that you’ll experience will leave you reeling, with everything from selfish mistakes and devastating lies to pure tears of joy and romantic swooniness. It’s got it all and from the one person least likely to cause such a whirlwind of emotion. You’ll find yourself opening yourself up to Griffin very quickly, even if you don’t necessarily agree with the choices he makes. There was no shortage of moments where I was talking to my Kindle, asking “What are you doing?!” But seeing how it all unravels and what becomes of it, from one domino to the next, made this book irresistible. I couldn’t put it down. Truly, could NOT put it down. It went to work with me, to bed with me, I set alarms in the middle of the night to wake up JUST to read (I have three kids. It’s quiet time at 3:00 AM), and my husband finally accepted that I needed mommy time to finish the book that had me so captivated. It was one of THOSE books.
I think it’s important to point out that throughout the many obstacles that Griffin and Anna face, the writing never wavered from being 110% his personality. Even by the end, when he was showing so much growth and change, there were still tidbits or scenes that you might expect from them. He’s quirky and says completely ridiculous things, but that’s just the joy of that character. Stephens held onto that throughout the book. I was worried that as things started moving along or changing (for the better), we might lose the fun side of these characters, but it was never an issue.
Overall, I think Untamed will succeed in making every D-Bag fan rejoice. It’s an all new timeframe and material, heavy yet entertaining subject matter, and includes some of your very favorite characters in the leading roles. What a win/win, right? I think over the course of a few hours, you’ll find yourself rethinking everything you thought you knew about the Thoughtless series. I know personally, I want to reread the entire series just to look at the band in a different light. This enthralling, flawless addition to the Thoughtless series couldn’t have been done better, and it’s officially a new favorite.
