How is it that you can sort of kind of predict what’s going to happen in a book, and when nearly what you expected does indeed happen, you’re still completely shocked? How does that happen! I should have been building myself up for it throughout the book, I should have known, but still…BAM! Smack in the face. Tears streaming, heart breaking, can’t breathe. For the first time EVER, I’m a bit pissed off at Jane Harvey-Berrick. Not actually mad because let’s be honest, I love her WAY too much to ever be mad at her, but…argh! Whhyyy Jane, why?!
This book is about a girl who had a bad day and a guy running in the rain who meet, and their whirlwind romance that follows. I can’t and won’t say more than that. That’s a bit cryptic but just believe me when I say, you need this book. This may be my shortest review to date, which is very strange since it’s for a Jane book (they’re usually pages long. I’m a bit obsessed with her), but I just…I can’t. I can’t.
Is this book realistic? Not so much. Two people don’t meet and instantly go off on adventures together. It doesn’t happen. We also all like to judge authors for their lack of character development, but truth is, there isn’t a ton of development in this one. And you know what? It’s okay. It’s more than okay. Get swept away. Let the story change you, even if just for a bit. Feel it, breathe it, live it. Don’t stop and think about the technical aspects of it all, just LIVE along with their experiences and in their world for a bit. You won’t regret it.
I would love to say this was a quick and painless read. Quick, yes. Painless, not even close. Worth it? Absolutely. I'm completely in love with this very sweet, romantic tale, even with the tears in my eyes.
