I’ve put off writing this review for almost a week now. I wasn’t sure how to put words on paper in a way that can accurately describe how amazing this book is. I’m still not positive how to do that, but I’m going to try.
When we received Never Never last week, Katie and I both had a minor freak out and immediately jumped head first into it. The couple of friends that I mentioned it to had one question the next day: “How was it?!” they all wanted to know. The one word that jumped out more than any others was mindblowing. It is a Colleen Hoover and Tarryn Fisher novel, so yea, it will be mindblowing. But this takes it to a new extreme, even for those two, in my opinion. This book will put you through the wringer on emotions, but I think above all else, your head will be spinning by the end.
I wasn’t sure how the writing might work, since as we all know, the two have very different styles. They’re both unbelievably talented authors, but very unique. The two styles meshed together seamlessly. There are a few quirks here and there that might make you go, “Whoop, that’s a Colleen kinda thing” but even then, you aren’t sure. Of course now, we all know who wrote what so you might be looking for the differences but for me, I didn’t notice and I think that makes for the ideal co-written book; when you just can’t define that line.

I know Katie will mention this below, but this book steals you away from the world you’re in. Not just for a few minutes, but hours. The entirety of the book, you’ll be transported to this world of mystery, romance, hope, and fear. Every page is so intriguing, and you won’t be able to not read it in one sitting. It’s one of those books that you will completely devour, and then instantly flip back to the first page. I read it twice in order to write this review, and just like with any great novel that you love, you’ll find yourself learning new things on every reread.
When my friends would ask how it was, my go to response beyond my description of “mindblowing” was this: “Ridiculous cliffhanger. SO good even with it. SO addictive. You’re tossed into it and it’s like ‘sink or swim, bitch’ and it’s so much fun trying to keep your head above water.” Okay, yea I’m a bit goofy. Y’all know this by now. But I seriously couldn’t figure out a better way to describe what you’ll feel while reading Never Never. It’s like the ultimate puzzle and you wonder how the pieces will ever fit together.
Overall, it’s very simple: Do not miss this book. Don’t pass it up to read something else. Stop what you’re doing and dive into this crazy world of what it means to truly find yourself, with a splash of romance, suspense, humor, and so much more. It has it all, including the emotion of a Colleen novel with the mindfuck of Tarryn, and it cannot be beat.

So when agreeing to review Never Never we had to agree to not give any spoilers in our reviews. And after reading it, I have no clue how to do that. So, I will not tell you anything about the book. Just how it made me feel. Which is….
Holy mind fuck. Yes, I used a cuss word in my review. And yes, when I post this on Amazon, I will have to say it differently but right now, after just finishing, thats all I have to say. This book took me away. It absorbed me. I would look down at my iPad and read for 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes and look up and think, where the hell am I and what is going on. I was able to block out everything going on in my house, which isn’t easy with having 3 kids running around, and complete focus on the book. Focus enough that I had to reorient myself with what was happening in my life, not in the book.
Erin read it before I did. And I have to say, the way she described it was perfect. Ridiculous cliffhanger. SO good even with it. SO addictive. You’re tossed into it and its like “sink or swim, bitch” and its so much fun trying to keep your head above water.
Thats what she told me when she was done. And it is so true. You seriously get tossed into a book. It takes over what you're thinking, what you're feeling that you think you are going to sink. And then when you take a breath and float to the top, you’re thinking, did I seriously just read that? Is this book real? And it is. SO SO SO real.
The cliffhanger, we were warned about that. We were warned that they couldn’t finish it all within one book. And for once, I’m not mad at the cliffhanger. Wait, I take that back. I am mad but not in a bad way. But more in a way of Why? Why do we have to wait? Why must they leave it like that? Why why why? But I kind of love the cliffhanger all in the same. I want more. I want the suspense of having to wait. I’m left thinking of where are they going to take it after this. What else are they going to do? How else are they going to play with my mind?
I’ve read all of Colleen’s books but I haven’t read any of Tarryn’s books. I was scared. I’ve heard about her writing. And I’ve put it off. But I won’t be putting them off any longer. And from what I’ve heard about Tarryn’s books and what I’ve read in Colleen’s books, Never Never is the perfect mix of the two of them. Perfect mix.
