I always make the first sentence of my reviews too difficult. I overthink it, I guess. I try to make sure it grabs you. How’s this:
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
Let’s go with it, yea? I truly do wish I could scream it from every rooftop, telling everyone just how much I enjoyed Fair Game. It was everything I wanted. Well-developed characters, an addictive storyline, and it will evoke every emotion you can fathom. It’s pure new adult at it’s finest.
These characters grab you from page one. The adrenaline is pumping, you dive head first in as soon as you open the book, and it doesn’t let up throughout the entirety of their story. As exciting as the story was, the characters carried this book for me. Jade is…unfiltered and goes for what she wants. I loved her personality so much. Shep is a cocky rich kid, and he has his eye set on Jade Frost. You won’t be able to help yourself. You’ll get caught up in the game and find yourself head over heels in love with them. They’re explosive, sexy, and just…right. It’s just right.

Throughout the book, you’ll see the word “anticipation” mentioned quite often. That word will OWN you. The anticipation and tension is killer in Fair Game. The constant interruptions and interferences they encounter will make you want to scream, but in the very best kind of way. You know what I mean. That weird tummy flipping, angsty, eating away at you feeling? Murphy has that down pat.
It’s truly unputdownable. I started Fair Game late at night, and was determined to finish before I fell asleep. I couldn’t stop. It’s been a long time since I’ve found myself so addicted and into a book as much as I was with this one. While the tension and build up is a large part of the book, there’s so much more entwined on each page. Romance, humor, excitement, and everything in between. If you loved the feel of Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire, I think you’ll adore this one as well. The entire time I was reading Fair Game, I kept thinking that. Over and over again. It made me remember how it felt to read those very first romance novels when I began in this genre. It has that feeling of wanting them to fall in love, but you love the chase almost as much as you want them to find happiness. This chase is one that I won’t forget anytime soon.
Overall, don’t hesitate or give it another thought – rush to Amazon and one-click this one. It’s my new favorite book by Monica Murphy, although truth be told, the woman can do no wrong. She writes books that you’ll love, and she didn’t disappoint with Fair Game.
Now I need Gabe’s book. Not want, but NEED his book. Eeek!
