Some books, you can take your time and just soak it all in. Some, you can't because you need to know what happens next. Blue Horizons? If it's possible, it's a bit of both. If I could have slowed down time just to savor every page, I would have but I was much too impatient for that. Much, much too impatient. Andrews wrote some of the most enthralling stories and characters with her Hale Brothers series, and she has done it yet again with Blue Horizons.
I think what I loved the most was the fast-paced, whirlwind romance that ensued between Ava and Ash. It wasn't instalove, it was instaconnection, and I loved every tiny bit of it. I think a lot of bloggers and reviewers tend to use the phrase, "hooked from the beginning" but within the pages, there are lulls and down moments, right? With Blue Horizons, I didn't feel any of that. It was constantly moving, and even with the addition of Ava's flashbacks, it felt like things were always progressing.

To me, I read certain types of books for different reasons. There's a book for when I'm overly emotional and want to cry. There's a book for when I'm mad at the world and want to scream. Blue Horizons will forever fit into the, "I want to fall in love, swoon, and melt" category. It's one of those good ole fashioned romances that sometimes, you just need in your life. Are there up's and down's? Yes. Angst? In spades. Painful pasts? Yep. But throughout it all, it's just so dang romantic! Squee-worthy, chills and tingles, fairytale romance. What girl doesn't want that?
Kathryn Andrews is one of my favorite authors, and Blue Horizons is just another addition to my list of favorite reads. She pulls you in from page one and doesn't let go. She'll make you cry tears of joy and pain. But more than anything, you'll fall in love with her characters. She writes them with such precision that you'll look up and realize they aren't real people in your every day life...and then you'll be horribly sad. Or maybe that's just me. She's THAT good though. Andrews won't only tell a story, she'll build a world that you can live in with these characters for a while.
There is one tiny smidge that I feel like, as a blogger writing an honest review, I should mention. The two characters meet in the beginning, but over the course of the book, you learn just how famous they both are. For me, I did wonder how neither actually recognized one another. There's mention of paparazzi, tweets regarding their interactions, etc., so it made me question how it didn't "click" when they were just getting to know one another. That's the joy of books though. Sometimes, you get swept away into a world that might not always be completely feasible, but who cares, because it's too much fun.
Overall, Ava and Ash's story of overcoming a painful past, gaining back the life you want, and finding someone to do that exact thing with is one that will stick with me. Blue Horizons comes with a slew of emotions, and I enjoyed being hit with every last one. 4.5 stars from me!
