I’m going to preface this by saying, I love Nicole Edwards. I have read everything she has written. I sit and wait patiently (well sometimes) for her next book to come out. And Boots Optional and Betting on Grace go right along with all of her other books. I absolutely loved them.
First thing, you have to, have to, have to read Boots Optional before even thinking of picking up Betting on Grace. If you don’t, you will be lost. It’s the beginning of Grace, Grant, and Lane’s relationship. It’s them realizing there is something, an attraction, a want, a desire to be together between all 3 of them. And it’s HOT! Very HOT!
Betting on Grace is about them realizing just what is between them. It’s not a fling, a one time deal. It’s a deep love between them. Betting on Grace, while just as hot as Boots Optional, is about them and the building of their relationship. Figuring out just what they are feeling and how to make it work. And it's hot. So very hot. I love how Nicole writes these scenes. I feel like I'm view them in person. And really I wish I was.
I have to add that of all of Nicole’s characters, Grace is now my favorite. I love her personality. She has no problem saying what is on her mind. But she isn’t outspoken so much as what she says is perfect for the moment. Oh and the fact that she can put 2 cowboys in their place, that is awesome.
I think one of the things I love about Nicole Edwards writing is how she doesn’t just write about the people who are the focus of the book. She writes about their family and those around them, in the secondary characters point of views. It makes you eager for their books, because knowing Nicole, they will have books. And I am very much looking forward to what else happens on Dead Heat Ranch.
