An event planner that falls in love with her best friend, who turns into a super megastar and boy bander? Yup. I’m in. 110%, completely lost within this world. My little teeny-bopper, Nick Carter and Justin Timberlake loving heart couldn’t have loved this book more if I tried.
I think what made this story pop - besides the sweet yet tension-filled story and uber-likeable characters - was that it felt SO real. As a 30 year old, I oh so fondly remember thinking that one day, a member of my favorite boy band would knock on my door and sweep me off of my feet. In Wonderwall, it doesn't quite work that way since they were best friends and in a relationship BEFORE he became a celebrity, but nonetheless, it's a hella cool feeling to dive into that world with the lead characters, Liv and Sebastian. The issue I have so often with celebrity/actor/musician stories is that they aren't believable. Those things don't realistically happen, right? But for Liv and Sebastian, it all felt so true and I never questioned whether a relationship and issues like theirs would be feasible. It just...was.

I really enjoyed that it wasn't too angsty. It could have been, but Soars wrote it in such a way that it never felt like too much. I love angst as much as the next person but sometimes, you just need to sit back and really immerse yourself in a story, without the worry and fear of things not playing out as you hope. That was Wonderwall to me. Is there some what if's? Absolutely, along with heartbreak, frustration, and many other emotions in between but the one major element that is repeated throughout? They never, ever stopped wanting or loving each other. It's just so dang swoony, romantic, and will cause the tingles. So many tingles.
Plus, Liv is an event planner! Musician in a boy band-esque career who loves an event planner?! Pick me pick me! I was hook, line, and sinker for Wonderwall.
Overall, there's only one thing better than finding a new favorite book, and that is finding a new favorite author to go with it. M.H. Soars captured my attention from the first chapter, and I instantly fell in love with the characters, storyline, and writing style. Wonderwall is jumping wwwaaayyy up on my favorites of the year list for too many reasons to count, but the biggest being that she made me fall hopelessly in love.
