There’s honestly nothing like that feeling when you finish a book, and you really, seriously enjoyed it so much. Maybe it isn’t a constant stream of happy moments. Maybe you will cry. But at the end, your heart feels so full and you can’t help but smile. Needless to say, I’ve got a very large smile on my face after finishing Wild Reckless.
This story is a perfect YA/NA-ish novel. I say “Ish” because there are parts that may be considered a bit too adult for the YA crowd, but it’s still very much that sweet, first love romance sort of tale. For me at least, it’s everything I’d want. Swoonworthy moments that make my heart and tummy flutter. Angst that had me biting my nails or physically shaking my head at my Kindle. Heartbreak that hits home more than many others before it. It’s got it all, and every single moment was exactly as I had hoped. I don’t like to compare because each and every story from each and every author is so different, but if you love love love Jude and Lucy in the Crash series by Nicole Williams, you’ll love this one as well. It’s got that same feel that I adore.

I love these characters. As in truly, from the bottom of my heart, LOVE these characters. I’m a bit sad right now and even begging Ginger for a sequel, because I’m not ready to not know about their every day lives. The love shown to each other, and the trust and hope they put in each other’s hands? Just beautiful. Owen is a very broken guy, but Kensi makes him feel safe. She’s exactly what he needs at a time in his life when he feels there is no one else that could save him. They are each other’s home, and need the other to breathe. I mean really, how much sweeter can it get? I’m swooning just thinking of their relationship and need for one another.
As always, Scott wrote a realistic story that you can’t help but dive head first into. She makes every emotion and interaction, whether it is the sweet times or the ones that will tear your heart apart, pop off of the pages. There are some deep topics in Wild Reckless, but Scott handles them with so much class. For one topic in particular, it really hit me harder than the others, but it was treated with the utmost care. I love that she’s not afraid to go there and make a sweet love story deeper with some serious issues, and she did a great job at it.
Overall, Wild Reckless is a wonderfully written story of love saving two people who had no idea how badly they needed each other. It’s emotional and will tug at your heartstrings, yet make you giggle or let your giddiness shine through during the great moments in their relationship. It was perfection, and I wouldn’t change a word. Except maybe to ask for more… More, more, more PLEASE Ginger?!
