What to say about Something Wicked… Should I mention how sizzling hot it is? Or maybe how it mixes fictional characters with our very own feelings? Maybe how great the twists and turns are that take us on this crazy ride? I vote yes for all of the above.
First, let’s talk about the one thing that caught my attention more than anything. This book is hot. It’s sexy, blush-inducing, pure deliciousness. Drake and Gabby couldn’t be more opposite. They do jump in there very quickly, but ya know what? It’s okay. It’s all right because the quality of those scenes will make you forget everything before it. Mummert is a pro at grabbing you from the first page, and this one is no exception to that rule.
While I do wish there was more in the way of character background and development, they didn’t feel like total strangers. Not at all. You’ll be on their team and rooting for them, individually and as a pair. They have a few different obstacles to overcome, and it’s very interesting to see how they get through those. The instant attraction and intensity of their connection is undeniable.

The lead character, Gabby, does add a fun little twist though in that she wants to be a romance author. She’s writing a book, and lives in a fairytale world. It was very charming, seeing as that’s the very community we’re all a part of. While I’m not writing a book and you, as the reader, might not be as well, it’ll still feel familiar to our everyday lives. We hear about authors writing books. We might know authors that currently are working on a scene that has them stumped. I’m positive we all are guilty of living with some grand fairytale in mind. It just felt…right. I don’t know what other word to use, but you’ll see what I mean. It made the story stand out even more for me.
I loved that it could have been as simple as your basic woman interviews actor, actor turns love interest, done and done. But it’s not. There’s so much more under the surface. A past that has shaped one, a future and career that seems unattainable for the other, mixed in with paparazzi, exes, and family. It’s a wild ride, but makes for an intriguing read.
Overall, I had a good time with Something Wicked. It was fun, flowed well, and kept me on the edge of my seat. While I’m usually a fan of the sugary sweet romance novels, this was a nice reprieve. It was just the right blend of sweet and dirty, with a touch of shock and heartbreak added in. An easy 4 stars from me.
