Ahh, the tingles. I’m still a little ball of tingly goodness. Manwhore +1 exceeded every expectation I had for this sequel. It was more. More of everything. Malcolm and Rachel’s story is beautifully romantic, with the perfect combination of angst, anticipation, and drama that will ruin all future books for you. So beware. Clear your schedule for a few days, because this one will leave you with a massive book hangover.
Side note – You definitely must read Manwhore before trying Manwhore +1. You’ll be a bit (okay, a lot) confused if you haven’t. But I promise, it’s not a hardship. I want to reread Manwhore right now, if that counts. So go go, one-click if you haven’t! Become addicted like we all are.
In the first book, we were all swept away by green eyes, secrets untold, and the cliffhanger to end all cliffhangers. In +1, it’s the anticipation that’ll get you. The anticipation of…well…the future. The future in so many different aspects that cover a wide variety of bases, but their relationship comes in at the top of that list. Watching them begin to open up again after the article was amazing, and exactly what I wanted it to be. I was so scared that Evans would instantly place them back into a relationship, but alas, she did not and that made me a very happy reader. I needed that angst. It took the entire story to the next level for me.

It’s been so long since one single character affected me in such a way as Malcolm Saint does. I felt it in the first book, but it seems like +1 hit me even harder. Every smirk, glance, and smile made me melt. Every. Single. Time. Evans is a master of creating addictive, complex characters and Malcolm is the end all be all, as far as I’m concerned. Just as Saint is incomparable, Rachel holds her own with him, and that makes me love her. She stands up to him, yet she isn’t too big to let him take the lead. I love these two together. They’re perfection. Their story is perfection. Their dynamic is perfection. Shall I use the word one more time? Complete and utter perfection.
So often, the highly anticipated sequels of a much-loved book let me down. I don’t know if I just have unrealistically high expectations, but more often than not, I’m left feeling disappointed on that last page. Not so with this one. If anything, I think I enjoyed it even more. While it wasn’t as tension-filled as the first book, it gains it’s own merits that the first book didn’t achieve. What could have been a favorite book of the year has undoubtedly turned into my favorite series of the year.
Overall, it’s really as simple as one word. One word that makes this story and series. “Dibs.” If you aren’t aware of everything that word might entail, go one-click and learn the ways of one Malcolm Saint. If you do, then…well…you just know. Manwhore +1 is everything I wanted it to be and more with a classic, fairytale romance in a not so classic setting. Its sensual, sweet, and astoundingly brilliant. Give it a try. You won’t be disappointed.
