Before I started reading Lead, I had heard it was different. Different from the other 2 in the series and now, in my opinion different, from any other rocker book out there. And I have to say it is brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
You’ve obviously met Jimmy, lead singer in Stage Dive, in both David and Mal’s books. You learned about his issues. You heard about all the bad he did. But in Lead, you meet the man. And you hear his demons. And you see his struggles not only with addiction but also with himself and his past. I love the way Kylie Scott wrote Jimmy. You hated him, you felt for him, you wanted to help him, you wanted to love him. He is not an easy character. He is a piece of work.
Lena, love Lena. I love her personality. I love how she takes no shit from anyone, especially Jimmy, but does it with a little bit of humor and a smile. She is tough. She pushes back as much as Jimmy pushes her.
This is not your typical rocker love story. It really isn’t. It’s about a man healing and a women falling in love with him. It’s different because it doesn’t revolve around sex. I’m not saying there isn’t any. And I’m not saying it’s not hot. But it’s not the main focus of the story. In fact, it takes a very long time. For this kind of book, an abnormally long time. But it is perfect the way it is. Their story was not about sex. It was about them discovering each other and falling in love.
I’m not one of those readers that begs authors to write something. I’m not one of those that always has to know both sides of the story. I like when authors come back with a companion book in the alternate POV. I would never turn it down. But Kylie Scott, this is me begging. I WANT THIS STORY FROM JIMMY’S POINT OF VIEW. As much as we learned about him I want more from him. I want something from his POV. That’s how much I love this story.
