I’ve been sitting for a bit trying to figure out how to write my review. Trying to figure out just how to write down what I loved about this book. And I’m still having a hard time. So I’m just going to go with it.
I love hockey books. I love books about manwhores who fall in love. I love books with secrets in them. I love books where the girl thinks its okay to break up with the guy because its better for him that they aren’t together. I love gay best friends. And Garrett had all of that in it. This was a book I just couldn’t put down. It hooked me. It grabbed me. And it wouldn’t let go until I finished. And the epilogue. LOVED IT. Totally and utter loved it. It wasn’t the normal epilogue. It was the epilogue I’ve always wanted in a book.
What starts as a one night stand to help Olivia feel alive, turns into so much more. And the relationship that grows, is beautiful. Its real. It comes together organically.

This is a book that you don’t normally read. The events that happen, hit hard. They make you think, what if this happened to me? Would I react the same way that Olivia did? Her secret, the medical one, is intense. But it’s also realistic. So very realistic. And the way she handles it, is also realistic. But it also makes her one of the strongest female characters I’ve ever read. One thing I totally love about Olivia, besides how she handles her medical issues, is how she views Garrett. She doesn’t care he is a manwhore. She isn’t out to change him. She doesn’t care that he is a hockey player. She doesn’t care that he has a ton of money. She wants him for him. Warts and all.
And Garrett. He has become one of my favorite male characters of all time. I don’t even want to add him to my book boyfriend list. I just like him as a person. And I love how he handles everything that is thrown at him throughout this book. And while its extremely hard and trying, he handles it with grace. Yes he has his moments. But deep down, his feelings for Olivia are the most important. And while a lot of scary stuff happens and it really does scare the shit about him, he is strong. He is the person Olivia needs to get her through everything.
Sawyer Bennett wrote a book that is very real. You can tell she did her research. But the way she wrote this book is amazing and she gave everything going on with Olivia so much respect. She didn’t sugarcoat anything but while Olivia’s medical issues played a major role in this book, it wasn’t the main focus. The love story that she wrote, is classic. With a twist. Oh and hot sex.
