This is a heartbreaking, uplifting, beautiful, sad love story. I know you don't hear all those together when they describe something especially when they somewhat contradict each other but I can't describe Fragile Bonds any other way.
This is the story of a family coming together. Of a second chance at love. It's not traditional at all.
Melanie and Xavier were madly in love. But due to trusting issues and dominance, it fell apart. Six years later, she is a hospice nurse asked to take a case she probably shouldn't but by taking it she was hoping to put her past behind her. The case was Alyssa Ross, Xavier's dying wife.
But the past didn't stay in the past as she got close to Alyssa and her and Xavier's son Jacob.
This is the story of one dying women wanting what's best for her boys and knowing deep down that Melanie is the love of Xavier's life. And being ok with that. Knowing that her boys will be loved and take care of even when she was no longer there to do it.
This is the story of keeping the past in the past and growing. But still loving your first love. And loving his son as if he was your own.
This is the story of a family. Not necessarily conventional. But it's still a family, with a very special angel watching over. (But not when in the bathroom)
Sloan Johnson did an amazing job at making this seem like a story that could take place in real life. She did it justice by not rushing anything. But making you feel for and with the characters and making me cry. I want to see the future between Melanie, Xavier and Jacob.
