Easy Virtue is…how do you even describe it? Raw. Provocative. Top of the line angst. It’s all of the above, plus many more. I like to call it Classy Raunch. Although there is so much sex, it’s always – ALWAYS – well done, handled with care, and written gorgeously. It feels like even during the grittiest of scenes, the pages should sparkle. Is that weird? Yeah, I think it’s weird, but that’s how it feels.
These characters are so addictive. You’ll love to hate Blaire, but end up loving her more than not. She leads such a sad life. Under the designer clothes and confidence, she’s lonely and empty. She does everything (and everyone) she can to stay detached. Emotions are a no go in Blaire’s world. She’s all about the money – How to get it, who can give it, and where to find it. She’ll do whatever it takes. I found myself loving her character, even when I probably shouldn’t have. I felt bad for her. It will cause some serious heartache seeing what she goes through and the choices she makes. Because she meets Ronan.
That’s all I can say about him. He’s what she needs, she’s what he wants, but she won’t allow it. Every page of their relationship is emotional, but so damn romantic. Seriously. But this is Blaire’s world…and he doesn’t fit into it, with his normalcy and seemingly average life. Tsk tsk, Blaire! I won’t lie, I might have sent Mia some hate messages. She pulls you into this beautiful world where things feel so right, then rips it all out from underneath you. Ahhh Mia! You and your mind games.
Along the way, you also meet a few other characters, but Lawrence in particular is so intriguing. He’s…an interesting guy. There’s definitely more there than a Black Card and a pretty face. Although I didn’t love his relationship with Blaire, I kinda found myself rooting for him. I must know more. ASAP.
Overall, Easy Virtue is a roller coaster of emotions, and your head will be spinning on that final page. It’s a crazy journey of right vs wrong and what the heart wants vs what the mind thinks it needs. I thoroughly enjoyed this angst-driven, sexy story, and can’t wait to learn more. Mia Asher, you’re a genius.
