Caught was one of those books that I just truly, wholeheartedly enjoyed reading. It wasn’t rush rushed because my review is due. It wasn’t one of those that goes in one ear and out the other (Be honest. It happens.) It was just a lot of fun to read. Caught isn’t pure sunshine and rainbows, but to me, it’s exactly what I want from a New Adult novel. It’s filled to the brim with tension and angst with a dash of sadness and heartbreak, but mixed with humor and pure romance flawlessly. It has it all, and it’s a fantastic combination.
I love love the entire idea of this story. Has it been done before? Sure it has, but something about the characters and a few extra tidbits made it stand out for me. It’s not the same ole same ole, best friends turn lovers novel that we all know. It has everything you expect, but the two authors seem to weave a tale together that will go beyond what we think we know about a story such as this.

I love these characters, but especially Quinn. She’s real, which is a massive plus, but her witty and sarcastic side made this story. You never know what’s going to come out of that mouth of hers, and chances are, we’re all going to be stealing some Quinn-isms from her. She’s a loveable character and you’ll be on her side right from the get go. I normally find that I get annoyed with the heroines often over choices made, but I can honestly say, I loved her on every page. I think the emotions she experiences and thoughts that run through her mind are exactly what most of us would feel and think ourselves. And Chace…My little Chacer. He’s the all-American jock with mixed feelings and not a clue what to do with them. His indecisiveness pulls out every smidge of angst you can imagine, but when he does open his eyes and see what’s right in front of him? Eeek. Both characters were very easy to connect with, and the dual POVs made it that much better.
The writing was very…what’s the word. Quirky? It’s quirky. It was just a lot of fun to read. I found time slipping away and feeling lost within their world, because the authors nab you. It’s a very enthralling read, with the questions of “Will they? Won’t they?” dominating your mind. They’re so talented with pulling you into the story, and keeping it fresh so that you’ll be begging for answers. I’ll be honest, I had never read anything by Erika Ashby or A.E. Woodward before, but I’m absolutely going to one-click the ones I hadn’t previously purchased and give them a try. If their individual novels are anything like Caught, I’m positive I’ll love all of them.
Overall, it was a fantastic way to spend the day. It was such an easy read, with developed characters and relationships that burst off of the pages. The emotions you’ve come to expect from new adult – tension, humor, and of course, romance - are all there for the taking, and I have no doubt you’ll enjoy every last minute of your time reading Caught.
