I didn’t realize going in that this was a novella. But that didn’t matter. This was a full book in a novella. Completely beautiful and loving and amazing. This is a story of two people with challenges that persevere to be together.
Reagan is a single mom. A young single mom. She got pregnant at 16 and her boyfriend told her to get rid of it or they were over. She didn’t and pretty much never talked to him again. She went on to have the baby, graduate from high school and find a great job where she was able to move out of her parents house 6 months after starting. She is very independent. She wants no help. She was fine being single. She didn’t want to date. Until someone catches her eye or I should say she walks into him and spills an entire frozen coffee onto herself.
Coen is ex army with PTSD type issues. He is never diagnosed in the book though. He’s not looking for anything or any one. He is happy with his life out of the military as a photographer and sleeping around. Until he spots her in a coffee shop. And then proceeds to keep running into her. Oh and he’s best friends with her brother.
This story shouldn’t work. These people shouldn’t work together but it does. It’s true love. Reagan realizes that Coen is for her and her son. Coen knows going in that they are a package deal. And he falls in love with both of them. It truly is a beautiful love story.
