Ok. I just finished. And I have no clue what to say. I truly don’t. I started Beautifully Brutal the other day and unlike every other Nicole Edwards book, it didn’t hook me right away. I had the hardest time getting into it. Nicole is one of my favorite authors and I was getting worried. This had never happened before with one of her books. I couldn’t fathom I couldn’t like a Nicole Edwards book. And then at about 35% it grabbed me. Grabbed me in a way that nothing else existed until I finished this book. My kids ate but I’m not sure what I fed them. I couldn’t put the book down so I just kind of threw some food at them. But this book. Whoa.
Beautifully Brutal is different then most other of Nicole’s books to me. While there were many parts that were true Nicole, to me, it wasn’t as erotic. Was there sex? Absolutly. Was there Nicole Edwards sex (y’all know what I’m talking about)? Totally 100% yes. But the story. The story was so different. So outside what I was expecting. The Southern Boy Mafia series is a spin off of the Sniper 1 Security series and that very different what Nicole’s Alluring Indulgence and Club Destiny series. But this series is darker. I think that is the word to use. I truely fell in love with Max and Courtney but I also fell in love with the secondary characters. In fact, after reading one fo the final chapters, I quickly got on Nicole’s website to see what is the next book and I am so excited.

Max and Courtney’s story is similar to Romeo and Juliet. The two rivaling families. But with a lot more sex than the Bard wrote. Oh, and it doesn’t end the same (spoiler alert? probably not). No one in the Adorite and Kogan families should ever be in the same room without killing someone let alone falling in love. But that’s what happens. It’s a bit of a story of star crossed lovers. But in a mafia/security firm family kind of way.
No matter what is thrown at Max and Courtney, no matter how much they denied it, you knew, you felt, they were going to be together. No matter what either of their fathers said. No matter what they knew deep down shouldn’t happen, nothing could stop it. And I love those type of stories.
Once I was hooked, there was no putting down this book. And it has made me so eager for the rest of the series. SO eager. Not only for this series but for Sniper 1 and Devil’s Playground. Once again, Nicole can do no wrong.
