So I have to be honest. I seriously just finished this book. Got up and ran to my laptop because I just had to immediately write down my review. This book held me in place for the past 7 hours. I moved from seat to seat in my house. Got up multiple times for my kids but kept going straight back to it. In fact, I forgot to eat until I started to get light headed. Thats what this book did to me. I could not put it down. And then I read the last sentence. Let out a scream. And ran to my laptop. Yup, screamed. Screamed out of shock. Out of surprise. And out of anger because there were no more pages left to answer all the questions I still had.
I had been holding off on reading this book for awhile now. I’m not quite sure why. I wasn’t in the mood for an MC book. I had other things I wanted to read. Lots of different things. But I am now kicking myself for waiting. This is one of the best MC books I’ve ever read. It’s different. It’s a bit toned down than other MC books. A lot of what happens is implied. Yes there is sex. And yes what you get to see is amazingly hot. But there isn’t a ton of it, even though you know they are having it. There is violence. You get to see some, but a lot of it is implied also. Its kind of the best of both worlds. You get some but its not constantly pushed into your face.

Shay aka Laura has one of the most unique stories I think I’ve ever read. She is on the run from her husband. But thats not what makes it different. He tried to make her into his dead wife. Calling her by his wifes name, making her have plastic surgery to look like her. And he did this all by holding over her head that he would fire her father and then her sick mother wouldn’t have the medical coverage that she needed. He kept her pretty much under lock and key. So in order to save her mother, she married him when she was 18. And then 10 years later, she finally asks her brother for help. And he sends her to his friend, Bowie, who happens to be the VP of an MC.
Bowie, wow. I liked him. A lot. He was really perfect for Shay. Yes they had their differences and disagreements but it worked. Pretty much right away. It was one of those things that everything aligns and comes together just right. Which is totally strange to say regarding an MC book. Which I think is why I loved this book so much and why it held my attention so well.
If you’re into MC books, read this. If you aren’t, read it anyway. It has a lot of what is in typical MC books but there is a ton you wouldn’t normally read. And that last line. You’re going to want to contact Emily Minton IMMEDIATELY and ask her when we get answers. Cause thats what I’m about to do.
