Blogger note - I’ve read/been told/heard that it’s only fair within a review to state if you’re friends with the author. I guess some people become a bit too biased and can’t write an honest review, so it helps you decide whether or not they’re telling the truth if you know they have a friendship. So here’s my little disclaimer – I love Cassie Graham. As fabulous of a writer as she is, she’s an even better person. I will scream it from the rooftops that I consider her one of my best friends, and I adore her. BUT…having said that, if her book sucked, I’d tell you. I have another friend that I reviewed for and openly explained how much I honestly disliked her book. It can and does happen. So there’s that. I hope you continue reading, even knowing that tidbit, because it would be such a shame if you stopped now.
What do I say about a book that took my breath away? That exceeded every expectation I had? I’m not sure, but I’m going to try. At first glance, I was instantly intrigued by this story because it has a Hollywood hunk. I’m a sucker, and can’t stay away. I LOVE the A-List actor/unknown heroine storylines. I can’t help it. Graham took it above and beyond your normal story though. Everything you’ve come to expect from these types of books? Poof, gone.

There are so many things I loved about this story, but let’s hit on a few. The biggest being how exciting this book was. The tale of Jennings and Whitley is creative and I’m willing to bet you haven’t read something like this before. It’s not JUST the actor side of it. In fact, that takes quite the back seat by the end. I won’t give anything away but it’s…different, and you’ll love it. There are so many unexpected moments in this book, you won’t be able to put your Kindle down. I also love that she can have a few different subplots, but it never feels like too much or jumbled. The pacing is perfect, the story is definitely a page turner, and will keep you enthralled from the very first page. I love that Graham can turn a romance novel into so much more. Mystery, suspense, some comedy. It’s a little of everything, but flows together perfectly.
We have to talk about Jennings for a second. That man… He makes my heart melt. He’s what dreams are made of. Does he get cheesy sometimes? Sure, but I enjoyed every minute of it. He’s so understanding, caring, and protective. He’s just…just…sigh. His relationship with Whit is a crazy ride, but underneath it all, his love for her is something out of a fairy tale. Their relationship is perfect, besides maybe that one tiny little thing I can’t tell you
I have to gush over Cassie for a second. Her debut novel, Unable to Resist, was fantastic. It’s much like Anyone But Him, in that it has so many different elements and brings out a ton of different emotions. The difference is that her writing has grown and matured beautifully from UtR to Anyone But Him. You can tell, almost by the page, how much she has changed in the best ways. She seems more comfortable maybe? Whatever it is, it’s working. She’s become so eloquent and seems to always know just the right description or dialogue. She can mix humor and sarcasm with heartbreak and romance flawlessly.
Overall, I can’t say it enough, and you’ll probably get tired of me mentioning it - Go one-click Anyone But Him. It’s a gorgeous story of two people who grow as individuals as well as together, while overcoming a tragic past or hectic present. It’s emotional, and will have you smiling, crying, gasping, and swooning. Anyone But Him is exciting, with so many twists and turns, you won’t be able to predict the characters’ future. It’s the epitome of a romance novel for me, and I loved every single page. 5+ stars from me!
And that epilogue! WHAT?! Hmm…
