Review
How is it that you can sort of kind of predict what’s going to happen in a book, and when nearly what you expected does indeed happen, you’re still completely shocked? How does that happen! I should have been building myself up for it throughout the book, I should have known, but still…BAM! Smack in the face. Tears streaming, heart breaking, can’t breathe. For the first time EVER, I’m a bit pissed off at Jane Harvey-Berrick. Not actually mad because let’s be honest, I love her WAY too much to ever be mad at her, but…argh! Whhyyy Jane, why?!
This book is about a girl who had a bad day and a guy running in the rain who meet, and their whirlwind romance that follows. I can’t and won’t say more than that. That’s a bit cryptic but just believe me when I say, you need this book. This may be my shortest review to date, which is very strange since it’s for a Jane book (they’re usually pages long. I’m a bit obsessed with her), but I just…I can’t. I can’t.
Is this book realistic? Not so much. Two people don’t meet and instantly go off on adventures together. It doesn’t happen. We also all like to judge authors for their lack of character development, but truth is, there isn’t a ton of development in this one. And you know what? It’s okay. It’s more than okay. Get swept away. Let the story change you, even if just for a bit. Feel it, breathe it, live it. Don’t stop and think about the technical aspects of it all, just LIVE along with their experiences and in their world for a bit. You won’t regret it.
I would love to say this was a quick and painless read. Quick, yes. Painless, not even close. Worth it? Absolutely. I'm completely in love with this very sweet, romantic tale, even with the tears in my eyes.

Excerpt
And there we saw the sunset.
My mouth dropped open as a blaze of red and orange burned the sky, setting the mesa alight in an astonishing display of nature or God or some deity more powerful, older, more mesmerizing than anything I had seen.
I think I gasped, and clutched Cody’s arm, our silence more meaningful than any words could have been. A deep stillness filled me as I watched the cycle of day to night, as the earth turned. And I was part of it; together we were part of it. My problems seemed small and ridiculous and I promised myself that this was where my life started again: this day, this moment, with this man at my side—if he’d have me.

Author Info
I started writing contemporary romance two years ago. Before that, I didn’t think I could write a sex scene. Turns out I can! My lucky number is 13 because I was born on the 13th and live near a haunted castle by the ocean. My number one past-time is watching hot surfers get changed into (and out of) their wetsuits. My husband doesn’t read my books. My mother does. Writing is my love, my hobby, my total addiction. All my characters are important to me and whisper their stories, even when I’ve finished writing their books. That’s why you’ll often find bonus chapters/out-takes from various books, because those voices just won’t be quiet. |
