Synopsis
The first book in a sensational New Adult trilogy from Noelle August
Welcome to Boomerang.com, the dating site for the millennial gen with its no-fuss, no-commitments matchups, and where work is steamier than any random hook-up.
Mia Galliano is an aspiring filmmaker. Ethan Vance has just played his last game as a collegiate soccer star. They’re sharp, hungry for success, and they share a secret.
Last night, Ethan and Mia met at a bar, and, well . . . one thing led to another, which led to them waking up the next morning—together. Things turned awkward in a hurry when they found themselves sharing a post hookup taxi . . . to the same place: Boomerang headquarters.
What began as a powerful connection between them is treated to a cold shower courtesy of two major complications. First, Boomerang has a strict policy against co-worker dating. And second, they’re now competitors for only one job at the end of summer.
As their internships come to an end, will they manage to keep their eyes on the future and their hands off each other, or will the pull of attraction put them right back where they started?

Review
Ahh, workplace romances, with all your tension and awkwardness. You’re gaining as my new favorite sub-genre, and Boomerang is at the top of that list. It’s exciting, entertaining, sweet, and holy hell, the tension! Way to be Noelle August. Y’all scored a homerun with this one.
This is the story of Mia and Ethan. You meet them the morning after their one night stand…or is it? They don’t know whether or not they did. You don’t know. No one knows! But that’s part of the fun of it all, trying to figure it out with them. Not only did they have a night to (not) remember but they also quickly learn that they’re coworkers at Boomerang, a dating site, but more like competitors for the same job. That’s a bit awkward, yea? YES, and it’s amazing. It’s a wild ride full of romance, office drama, ex’s, and futures that seem nearly impossible.
So this is a weird thing for me, but I didn’t really LOVE the characters by themselves. They each have such intriguing stories, they’re both such strong characters, and it wasn’t that I didn’t feel like I knew them. I just never really got hooked on either one separately. But together? They’re perfection together and I fell in LOVE with the idea of Mia & Ethan being a couple. The catch is that they aren’t really a couple for much of the story at all, although you’ll feel how much they want and need one another. As much as I wanted it to happen, experiencing the fun journey between page one and the end was worth all of the intense sexual tension and screams that my poor Kindle endured.
This is the perfect combo of a sweet love story paired with everything that isn’t romantic at all. The authors nailed it, as far as pulling you in with the two main characters but making you really feel like you lived in their world with all of the extras. I adored their coworkers and friends, and their dates they had to go on for the job. It was very well written and just so exciting. I do think that saying that it’s a “sweet love story” sort of feels like I’m steering you wrong, even though it WAS that, but some of the twists and turns can get pretty intense. It pulled such a wide range of emotions, anything from humor and romance to heartbreak and frustration. I think if an author (or authors) can cover so many emotions in one book, they definitely have a keeper on their hands.
Overall, I loved this crazy tale. Boomerang was different from so many out there right now. It’s one of those books that you mean to sit down and read for a bit, and suddenly realize you’ve finished the book. It’s unputdownable and I cannot wait for Adam’s story in book 2.

VERONICA ROSSI is the author of the New York Times Best-selling UNDER THE NEVER SKY trilogy for young adults. The books are available in more than thirty countries and the film rights have been optioned by Warner Bros. LORIN OBERWEGER began her storytelling career by captivating her first-grade class with tales of her summers on a kibbutz in Israel. Lorin had never been to Israel. While teacher/parent night put an end to her first experiments in fiction, she’d already caught the bug and eventually made a career of all things story. She's an award-winning author and has also worked behind the scenes as a ghostwriter on a variety of projects. Her work has received starred Kirkus reviews and glowing mentions in The New York Times. Oh, she did get to see a kibbutz, eventually, and found out she had it pretty much right all along.
Veronica and Lorin met at a writing workshop and just knew they were destined to create awesome things together.
